Captain Tyler Macallister has been fishing for giant bluefin tuna since he was 17 years old, when he caught his very first one. His passion is harpooning giant bluefin at the end of the pulpit of his custom built 38’ Holland, F/V Cynthia C. 2. He has also caught many giants on rod and reel, including a fish that tipped the scales at 1060 pounds.
When did you first get involved with Salt Life? I was introduced to Salt Life sunglasses in 2014. I have tried a lot of different sunglass brands over the years, and Salt Life sunglasses continue to be the best I have worn while fishing.
What is your favorite hobby when you’re not living the Salt Life? I am an avid bow hunter. Sitting in the tower scanning the ocean for giant bluefin is very
similar to tree stand hunting for deer. Both require a lot of patience and the ability to read your environment....
What is your favorite category in the Salt Life line? Sunglasses are the #1 piece of equipment for me, my crew and my spotter pilot. Without quality polarized lenses, and frames that block the sun from coming in from the sides, your eyes would tire quickly and you would not be able to discern color of fish in the water.
What is your favorite tropical destination? Our family condo in Ft. Lauderdale. My wife and daughter love to swim in the Atlantic,
skimboard, shell hunt and walk the beach!
