Summer Sawaya
Summer specializes in diving and spearfishing. During her years of spearfishing, she has received three world records. She currently holds titles for spearfishing a Cubera on speargun, Blackfin Tuna on speargun, and Amberjack on polespear.
When did you first get involved with Salt Life?
I moved to Florida from New York in 2015 and fell in love with the ocean, so I’m fairly new to the Salt Life lifestyle. After my first experience spearfishing, I was completely hooked! Now I am fully engulfed and have no plans to ever change that. I became a Salt Life team member in 2021
How would you spend your dream day?
My dream day would be spent diving in crystal clear water, exploring a new reef and shooting fish. There is an amazing little restaurant in La Paz, Mexico that prepares your fish in so many incredible ways. I would definitely end my dream day there eating endless amounts of sashimi.
What is your craziest/funniest Salty adventure?
Every day while on the ocean something crazy happens! My favorite and craziest experience was the day I shot cobias off of a whale shark. It was completely unexpected and incredible.
Is there something on your bucket list that you’d like to accomplish?
I really want to shoot a dogtooth tuna! These fish are known to be some of the most difficult in the world to hunt and land. The locations where these fish live happen to be incredible too, Fiji, French Polynesia, so that’s a win-win!
