Matt grew up in Long Island Sound and began the Salt Life working as a sailing and wakeboarding instructor. Matt's family had him in the ocean from the earliest years and by the age of 12 Matt was a certified Scuba Diver and an aspiring watermen. By 18 Sailing and Diving had taken Matt all over the world living in places like the Caribbean, South America, and the South Pacific.
Matt has always been seeking new ways to enjoy his time in the ocean and in 2002 he first learned to kiteboard.and began to take the sport seriously when he moved to Florida at the age of 19. While studying at Eckerd College Matt helped to found and run the first kiteboarding tour in the U.S. Since graduating college, Matt has spent his time traveling and pursuing his passions for kiteboarding, wakeboarding, diving, surfing, and sailing.
